SillyNano Privacy Policy

1. What we store and where

By default, your roleplay chats, messages, personas, and sampling presets are stored locally in your browser using IndexedDB. Roleplay preferences are stored locally in browser storage. This local data stays on that browser and device unless you enable an optional sync feature, submit a character, or send a request that needs the main NanoGPT service.

SillyNano is a frontend for the main NanoGPT service. Requests for authentication, characters, AI generation, account features, and other /api/* functionality are proxied to nano-gpt.com. The NanoGPT Privacy Policy governs the main service's processing of account information, prompts and responses sent for model generation, technical logs, provider routing, and related API data.

Speech is optional. Dictation sends your recording through NanoGPT to Grok on fal for transcription. Listening sends the selected reply text to MiMo on DeepInfra for speech generation. These providers process the submitted content under their own policies. SillyNano does not save microphone recordings or generated audio to chat sync; a small audio cache stays in memory until you leave the chat. Operational speech metrics include duration, character counts, status, and provider cost, not recordings or spoken text.

Local browser storage is controlled by your browser. Other people who can access your browser profile or device may be able to access that data. Clearing site data may delete local roleplay data that has not been synced.

2. Optional encrypted sync

If you sign in with a NanoGPT account and enable the applicable sync settings, SillyNano can sync personas, presets, settings, chats, and messages according to your choices. Sync is optional; chats remain local unless conversation sync is enabled.

Synced roleplay data is encrypted in the browser before it is uploaded using the encryption configuration associated with your NanoGPT account. The operator's infrastructure stores and transfers the resulting encrypted sync data. Your account and storage settings, sync metadata, and any model requests you make remain subject to the NanoGPT Privacy Policy. Keep access to your encryption method secure because encrypted data may not be recoverable without it.

3. Cookies and authentication

SillyNano limits cookies to those needed for session and authentication functions, including the secure sign-in handoff to and from NanoGPT. These cookies help keep you signed in, complete authentication, and protect the sign-in flow. SillyNano does not use advertising cookies.

4. Character uploads and moderation

Characters you submit, including names, descriptions, instructions, tags, example text, and avatar images, are sent to and stored on the operator's infrastructure. Content you make public is displayed to other users. Do not upload personal information or images unless you have the rights and valid consents needed to do so.

Submitted characters and avatars may be processed by automated safety systems and reviewed by authorized moderators to enforce the Terms, handle reports, protect users and third parties, and comply with law. We may preserve and disclose relevant information when reasonably necessary for safety, abuse investigations, valid legal process, or other legal obligations.

5. Data deletion and choices

You can delete local chats, personas, presets, and other roleplay data through SillyNano controls or clear SillyNano's site data in your browser. Deleting local browser data does not automatically delete a synced copy or a public character stored on the operator's infrastructure, and deleting a synced copy does not clear every browser automatically.

Manage sync, delete synced data, or request account deletion in your NanoGPT account settings. You can remove characters through the available character controls. Some records may be retained or de-identified as reasonably necessary for security, fraud and abuse prevention, dispute handling, backups, or legal obligations, as described in the NanoGPT Privacy Policy.

6. Product usage measurements

We measure basic actions such as starting and returning to stories, using optional setup, and importing conversations. These event records may be associated with your existing NanoGPT session so we can understand whether people return. They do not include your story text, persona details, character names, searches, or page URLs. Browser action measurements respect the browser’s Do Not Track preference.

We also count completed replies by model to improve recommendations. Those aggregate counters do not store conversation content. Temporary identifiers limit how much one session can contribute to a model’s ranking.
